Former WWE and Impact Superstars Appear in Toronto

AEW has already filmed Friday’s episode, and attendees have revealed what happened in Toronto Canada. In addition to the packed card, there were also pop-ups as the recording came to an end, and from now on there are incoming episode spoilers, so if you don’t want to know you’ve been warned. The biggest development is that at the end of the episode, former WWE and Impact Wrestling stars Mike Bennett, Matt Taffin, and Maria Kanellis appeared and attacked FTR after their challenge. Kanellis also cut a heel show before Samoa Joe and Wardlow came out to help the FTR.

The three stars just finished a tour with Impact Wrestling as a mayhem faction called Honor No More. They were all previously with Ring of Honor, but were released from their contracts along with all the other talent in ROH.

ROH has since been bought by Tony Kahn and he is working on a TV deal for the company, but in the meantime, ROH is playing a role in AEW’s weekly TV episodes. There have also been special events for ROH, but at the moment it’s not clear where Bennett, Taven and Kanellis will land. Are they part of the ROH side or the AEW side? It doesn’t really matter right now since they’re all on show anyway, but things should get a lot clearer when ROH finally gets a new TV deal.

There have been recent reports that WWE was interested in Taven, but it doesn’t look like he’s headed there. Bennett and Kanellis had earlier stints in WWE, and they were the last part of the company in 2020, although Bennett asked Vince McMahon to release him early in 2019.

Here are the rest of the AEW Rampage spoilers:

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli defeated The Butcher and The Blade

Nyla Rose defeated Anna Jay

Ethan Page Dave Isaiah Cassidy

ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR and Shawn Spears defeated Embassy (Brian Cage, Kaun, and To a Liona.

AEW Rampage airs on TNT Friday at 10 PM EST.
